Paul’s research interests include galaxy clusters, binary stars, and supernovae. In DES, his roles include: Institutional representative for UIUC, member of the Meetings Steering Committee, and member of Clusters and Simulation Working Groups.
We asked Paul a few more questions — here’s what he had to say:
What motivates / inspires you?
The seemingly endless complexity that the world generates from a relatively small set of rules, and the beauty of that complexity.
Do you have kids? Do they want to be scientists too?
No, just cats. They are curious, though, so they’ve taken the first step.
Any advice for aspiring scientists?
Don’t dismiss your own questions about things. You deserve the answers as much as anyone else — and chances are, others want to know too.
